Ever since I bought my first camera in 1988, I collected many various pieces of photography equipment and I tried many different lenses and cameras. But since 2018 and what I call the serious beginnings of my interest in photography, I've been able to appreciate and select the best items for my needs. As a consequence, I got rid of all these 'nice-to-have' things that were bought impulsively on many occasions.

You will find below the main equipment that Céline and myself are using nowadays. Any new pieces will be referenced in due time.

Being multi-disciplinary photographers also means having a whole range of little accessories to deal with every possible situation... but that's for another blog article.

Of course let's start with our faithful companions, including the new kids on the block:

  • NEW Sony Alpha 7 IV (2x)

  • Sony Alpha 7 R III

  • Sony Alpha 7 III

For countless years, I traveled around the world with a bulky tripod that remained stubbornly attached to my backpack. I am still unable to clearly state whether I like or hate tripods, but now that we got our hands at long exposure or night sky photography, such tripod have taken their rightful place on our equipment list:

Tripods

  • Manfrotto 190XDB (sighting)

  • K&F Concept KF09.096 (macro)

  • Leofoto Monopod Carbon MP-285C

  • Manfrotto Pixi Evo

Heads

  • Benro B0 Ball Head

When two multi-disciplinary photographers are traveling and strive to cope with all kinds of situations, this means at least 20 kilograms of equipment to carry on ! Packing suitcases is therefore a kind of ultra-optimized precision engineering.

It's a well-known fact that THE perfect photo bag doesn't exist, so for many years I suffered from a costly affliction that saw me buy a new camera bag before every trip… That is, until I recently discovered Shimoda Designs and their ultra-configurable range of outdoor-oriented bags.

We have nevertheless kept a few small bags that we use mainly as second cabin bags, or for targeted activities such as urban photography.

  • Shimoda Designs Action X40

  • Shimoda Designs Action X30

  • Think Tank Turnstyle 20 V2.0

  • Peak Design Everyday Pack Zip

  • Peak Design Everyday Sling

  • Lowepro Streamline 250

Definitively, photography is a passion that's taking up a lot of space… to say the least !
